RBK Seed Investment Foundation

OJSC RVK is a government fund and development institute of the Russian Federation, one of the government's key tools in building its own national innovation system.
OJSC RVK was established by Decree # 838-D of the Government of the Russian Federation dated June 7, 2006 . The primary objective of OJSC RVK activity is to stimulate the creation in Russia of its own industry, venture capital investment and a significant increase in the financial resources of venture capital funds. The company plays the role of a public venture capital fund, through which the government seems to stimulate venture capital investment and financial support for the high-tech sector overall, as well as the role of the state institute for the development of the venture capital industry in the Russian Federation. 

Mission of OJSC "RVK":

Facilitating the accelerated formation of an efficient and globally competitive national innovation system through the creation of a self-developing venture capital industry in cooperation with other development institutions, involving private venture capital, development of innovative entrepreneurship and technology business expertise, mobilizing Russia's human potential.

Priority investment areas

Priority areas for the venture investment funds formed with the participation of OJSC RVK are determined in accordance with the List of Critical Technologies approved by the President of the Russian Federation, which includes:
  • security and counter-terrorism; 
  • living systems (biotechnologies, medical technologies and medical equipment);
  • nanosystems and materials industry; 
  • information and telecommunication systems; 
  • rational management of natural resources; 
  • transport, aviation and space systems; 
  • energy and energy efficiency.
 RKC invests in venture capital funds created in cooperation with private investors.
 

Skolkovo Foundation

The goal of the SKOLKOVO project is to create favorable conditions for the innovation process, with scientists, designers, engineers and businessmen, together with the participants of educational projects working to create a competitive knowledge-driven developments at a global level in five priority areas. Under the SKOLKOVO project, five clusters have been created: information, biomedical, energy efficiency, nuclear and space technologies.
Companies applying to take part in the SKOLKOVO project fall into one of these clusters. Priority projects are those capable of changing the appearance of the market and introducing new, unique products and technologies.

PRIMARY STRENGTHS OF PARTICIPATING COMPANIES:
Project participants applying the common system of taxation are granted the following incentives:
  • exemption from income tax;
  • exemption from value added tax (except for VAT paid on imports to the Russian Federation);
  • exemption from tax on the property of organizations;
  • reduced rate of insurance premiums - 14%;
  • refund (exemption from customs duties and VAT on goods imported for construction and fit-out of facilities in Skolkovo, or required carry out research activities in Skolkovo.
Participants benefits do not depend on project activities.
Project participants of the project applying the simplified taxation system:
  • exemption from income tax;
  • exemption from value added tax (except for VAT paid on imports to the Russian Federation);
  • exemption from tax on the property of organizations;
  • may pay insurance premiums at the reduced rates provided for project participants, regardless of applicable tax regime.
 

Foundation For Internet Development Initiatives 

The Foundation for Internet Development Initiatives (FIDI) provides funding and expertise to online start-ups at the early stages of development. FIDI launched his first start-up accelerator in Moscow and will continue to pursue multiple selection rounds every year. In the future, accelerators will also be opened in other Russian cities. Within three years, FIDI hopes to create a new generation of online projects - at least 400 start-ups that have passed a strict, but objective selection process and developed in a production environment, with the support of Foundation experts. FIFI priorities include educational, legislative and infrastructure projects that will contribute to the development of a full-fledged market for small and medium Internet business.
